Eastern Caribbean Automated Clearing House Service Incorporated
The Eastern Caribbean Automated Clearing House Service Incorporated was established on 2011 to plan and implement the Eastern Caribbean Automated Clearing House, ECACH, a cheque imaging and electronic payments system which is shared by participating banks in the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union (ECCU).
ECACH is jointly owned by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, ECCB, and commercial banks in the participating countries. It is governed by the Payment System Act and the ECACH Rules issued by the ECCB
Purpose
The ECACH was developed to provide a cost efficient clearance and settlement mechanism for retail payments that meets international standards. It is designed to clear and settle electronic transactions.
Benefits
- ECACH facilitates the functional realization of the ECCU single Financial Space initiative;
- and reduces credit and other risks in the retail payment system of the ECCU.
